Claude Fable 5 stays included on all paid plans to July 12
Anthropic extended included access to its most capable model, Claude Fable 5, across every paid plan through July 12 - five extra days before metered usage-credit billing starts.
TL;DR
On July 7 Anthropic said it is extending access to Claude Fable 5 on all paid plans through July 12. Fable 5 is Anthropic's most capable generally available model, and the extension keeps it inside plan limits for five extra days before it switches to metered usage credits. If you build with Claude, this is a short window to run the strongest model on a real project at no extra cost.
1. What changed
When Fable 5 came back online on July 1, Anthropic paired the relaunch with a one-week grace period of included access. That period was set to end this week, moving the model to pay-as-you-go usage credits at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. The July 7 announcement pushes that cutoff back to July 12, so Pro, Max, and Team subscribers keep included Fable 5 access for five more days.
2. Why it matters if you vibecode
Fable 5 sits in Anthropic's Mythos-class tier, above Claude Opus, with its largest leads on long, multi-step tasks - exactly the shape of an agentic coding loop. For this window you can point Claude Code or your agent workflow at the top model without spending usage credits. It is a good moment to benchmark Fable 5 against Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 5 on your own build before the meter starts and the cheaper models become the sensible default for routine work.
3. The context
Fable 5 and its sibling Mythos 5 launched on June 9, were pulled worldwide on June 12 under a US export-control directive triggered by a reported jailbreak of one of Fable 5's cybersecurity safeguards, and returned on July 1 after the Department of Commerce lifted the order. Anthropic shipped a new classifier alongside the relaunch that it says blocks the reported exploit in more than 99% of cases.
